Matt is a graduate of Auckland Medical School and did his specialist training in the Tauranga, Waikato and Auckland regions before leaving overseas on fellowship. He worked in the United Kingdom at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore, London in hip and knee revision surgery and knee cartilage implantation surgery. A knee arthroplasty and complex soft tissue reconstructive fellowship was completed in Melbourne.

He then returned to New Zealand to help set up the new Orthopaedic department at North Shore Hospital in 2004. He is committed to providing an excellent and long lasting Orthopaedic service, offering education and readily available advice to other health professionals and patients, and is an affiliated provider at Southern Cross Hospitals.
